The Manav Adhikar Surakhya Manch held its 93rd Ghanta Yatra (cymbal beating rally) and submitted a memorandum to the School and Mass Education Minister through Ganjam District Education Officer demanding proper implementation of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and the Right to Education (RTE) Act 2009.

The Manch also demanded that adequate measures be taken for quality education in all Government schools.

Manch coordinator Abani Kumar Gaya said that every year many Government schools are being closed due to poor results and this year the Government has decided to close as many as 47 schools on Ganjam district which would result in commercialisation of education.

He alleged that on one side the Government is commercialising the education through private schools and on the other hand quality education is not available in Government schools for which poor results is seen.

Mentioning that if Government schools are fulfilled with various demands like teachers, library, drinking water facilities, toilets and electricity and if a proposal is made that children of Government employees are bound to study in Government schools, the quality of education in schools would increase as the basic demands are fullfilled and the system would be of scanner of high level Babus.

He also said due to this poor students are deprived of quality education as they can afford the fees of the private schools as every year many schools are being closed.

The Manch also demanded the Government to take over the KC High School, KC Girls High School and KC Town High School.
