The World Heart Day was observed at the PPT Hospital onSunday with a walkathon organised to create awareness about heart-related problems among the denizens of the Port town.Paradip Port Trust (PPT) Chairman Rinkesh Roy flagged off the walkathon in which doctors and paramedical staffs of the PPT Hospital along with HoDs of the PPT, CISF personnel and general public participated with much enthusiasm.
Free heart checkup was also conducted in association with eminent cardiologists from CARE, AMRI and Sunshine Hospitals, Bhubaneswar. Dr Durga Prasad Sethy, Deputy Chief Medical Officer and Dr L Padhuria, Senior Medical Officer of PPT Hospital coordinated the event under the guidance of Dr Prahlad Panda, PPT Chief Medical Officer. A total of 176 people attended, out of which 17 new cases of diabetes and coronary artery disease were detected.
Coinciding with the Swachhta Pakhwada observation, plantation of saplings of fruit-bearing trees was undertaken conducted by the PPT Chairman along with others present.
