Observing the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Bhopal witnessed the largest Gandhi's mosaic portrait created in city on Wednesday.
The launch of plastic donation centre was held on 150th Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at TT Nagar Stadium in the presence of the Cabinet Minister for Higher Education, Sports and Youth Affairs of Madhya Pradesh Jitendra Patwari, Mayor of Bhopal Alok Sharma, Nagar Nigam Commissioner Vijay Dutta and renowned artist Wajid Khan.
This Mega Awareness Drive was organised in city on Wednesday wherein almost 6000 students participated and were arranged in such a manner to portray Gandhi's mosaic, if seen form aerial view. The mosiac was created by a renowned artist from Indore Wajid Khan.
Wajid is also known for his unique art work by nails and bolts over canvas. On Wednesday, he arranged students to portray Gandhi's potrait and was an amazing view. The spectators were enthralled to watch the spectacular artistic tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
The founder of plastic donation centre Zeeshan khan told that though the first centre inaugurated in Bhopal but sooner we are planning to launch more such centres around India.
He also mentioned that the funds which were collected from plastic donation centre will be used to feed the indigent people of the society. Every person present there took oath of saying no to the use of plastic. An anthem song for the occasion is also released for the same.
The menace of plastic is globally acknowledged, and it is high time for us to give it back to the 'Planet Earth', said Khan. Plastic Donation Centre has initiated this much needed awareness campaign to beat the plastic pollution and make people realize it's I'll effect which will be disastrous for the future generations.
Khan appealed all the citizens to participate in whatever form they can to make it a 'Global Revolution'.
More than 6,000 school students participated in this mega event which is likely to set a world record. Cohesive government policies such as ban on single use of plastic will also benefit this awareness program. However, if this awareness drive will get momentum, it will be big boost to control plastic pollution, added Zeeshan.
