The Bharatiya Bikash Parishad has urged the Project Director, Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) to appropriately act on its demand of cancellation of the district Collector’s order for shifting the DEO office from Brahmapur to Chhatrapur within two months, or else it would be forced to file a case in the Orissa High Court against him.
The Parishad made the demand after submitting copies of its writ petition and a HC order to the OSEPA PD on the day. Earlier, disposing of a petition filed by Parishad president Surendra Panigrahi, the HC had issued an order asking the OSEPA PD to dispose of the representation of the Parishad on DEO office shifting by passing a reasoned order within two months’ time from the receipt of the copies.
“Despite our repeated requests and justifiable arguments, concerned higher officers of the State Government didn’t pay any heed to our demand of cancelling of the Collector’s recommendation for shifting of the District Education Officer’s Office from Brahmapur to Chhatrapur. As per the HC advice, we have submitted copies of the writ petition and HC order to the OSEPA PD,” informed Panigrahi. Addressing a Press meet, Panigrai said he would file a case against the OSEPA PD if he doesn’t take appropriate action on their demand within two months’s time as per the HC order.
Notably, the Parishad has been demanding that DEO office should not be shifted to Chhatrapur, the district headquartes town of Ganjam district, as recommended by the Collector.
Teachers and students of the district would face problems getting their various works done if the DEO office is shifted to Chhatrapur, argued Panigrahi.
