The MKCG Medical College and Hospital organised a seminar on HIV/AIDs to mark the World AIDS Day on its premises here on Sunday.
Dean Prof Radha Madhab Tripathy, Microbiology Prof Banajini Parida and Academic Society Vice-Chairman Prof Satyadarshi Patnaik inaugurated the seminar.
Dr Sangeeta Das (Community Medicine), Dr Mayuree (Microbiology), Dr Uma Shankar Mishra and Dr Ganeshwar Sethi (Medicine) and Dr Shanti Mishra (Pediatrics) spoke on prevention against spread of AIDS. Stating that Ganjam districts has the highest number of HIV/AIDs affected persons in the State, they highlighted various measures, including role of doctors, to stop spreading the virus from the affected to others. On the occasion, Lecturers and PG and MBBS students presented papers on dangerous effects and treatment of AIDS. Winners of a quiz competition were given prizes. Apart from the MKCG MCH, the KMSC College, the Youth Red Cross, Narendrapur, the Red Ribbon Club, the Yuva-Mahila Sangathan and the Government Girls’ High School observed the day.
