MDM innovation: DEO gets nat’l award

Sundargarh District Education Officer (DEO) Ranjan Kumar Giri was felicitated with a national award for innovations in educational administration at New Delhi recently.

Giri innovated management of midday meal (MDM) through an SMS-based monitoring system during 2017-18 while he was working as DEO of  Bhadrak. His areas of innovation were enhancing the quality of MDM, management of MDM through SMS(ICT) and ensuring accuracy and transparency in MDM.

Giri’s innovation was first implemented in Bhadrak district and later in other districts of the State.

Giri was felicitated by the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration in the presence of Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar and Minister of Satyapal Singh.

“It was my dream to get a national award; and, finally, my dream came true,” said Giri.
