A family feud in Belatikiri village under the Sadar police station in Dhenkanal on Saturday turned violent when a man was shot at by his brother.
The victim, identified as Bibhu Behera, was rushed to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.
Reports said that Bibhu and his elder sibling Milu had a heated altercation over some family matter.
Suddenly, Bibhu lost his cool and hurled a bomb at his brother. In retaliation, Milu opened fire at his younger brother, leaving the latter critically injured.
Getting information, police reached the village, rescued Bibhu and rushed him to the District Headquarters
Hospital. Later, the injured was referred to the SCB Hospital as his condition deteriorated. Investigation into the matter is underway and police are on the lookout for Milu, who is absconding.
