The All India Congress Committee (AICC) would announce the names of party candidates for the first-phase Lok Sabha elections in Odisha on March 17 or 18, said Pradesh Congress Committee working president Chiranjib Biswal on Tuesday.
A meeting of the AICC’s Screening Committee would be held on March 16, after which an announcement in this regard would be made, said another PCC working president Pradeep Majhi.
According to sources, Majhi, former Nabarangpur MP, would also contest from the same constituency this time while former Union Minister and another PCC working president Bhakta Charan Das would again contest from the Kalahandi parliamentary seat.
Saptagiri Ulaka would be the party candidate for the Koraput Lok Sabha constituency and V Chandrasekhar Naidu for the Brahmapur LS seat, the sources added.
Notably, these four constituencies will go to polls in the first phase on April 11.
