Lightning claimed the life of a motorcyclist near Hiloi under the Talcher police limits in Angul district on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Ajay Kumar Sahu (25) of Belapada village. He was working at a coalmine in the Bharatpur area.
Sahu was heading towards his workplace by his bike when lightning struck him at around 5 am, killing him on the spot, locals said.
Being informed, police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to the Talcher Sub-Divisional Hospital for postmortem.
