Assistant Sub-Inspector of the Banharpali police station Parakshit Sahu was suspended on Sunday on the charge of demanding bribe from a person to release his vehicle.
The action was taken after a video showing Sahu asking for bribe went viral on social media. In an order, Jharsuguda SP Aswini Kumar Mohanty stated that Sahu has been put under suspension with immediate effect. During the period of suspension, Sahu would remain under the disciplinary control of Jharsuguda DSP (headquarters).Besides, the ASI was directed not to leave the headquarters without obtaining prior permission.
Also, the SP directed Brajrajnagar SDPO NC Dandasena to inquire into the matter and submit a report immediately for further action.
