Group yoga will be performed at all the district headquarters, development blocks, and panchayats of the state, including in capital city Raipur to mark the International Yoga Day on Friday.
Chief Minister Baghel was expected to chair the group yoga demonstration programme to be held at Sardar Balbeer Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium in Raipur but due to his urgent tour of national capital to attend a meeting called by union finance minister for all his state counterparts, Baghel would have to skip this function. Now Mayor, Raipur Pramod Dubey will chair the function to be held at indoor stadium of the state capital.
However, Chief Minister in a message to people of the state extended hearty greetings for the occasion.
He appealed common people to include yoga in their daily routine to make their body healthy and free from diseases.
Similar to the programme at Raipur indoor stadium, a programme is scheduled to be organized at Korba district headquarters where Assembly Speaker Dr Charandas Mahant will be present as chief guest.
Likewise, in the events to be held in district headquarters, ministers-in-charge/nominated ministers, MPs, MLAs, Zila Panchayat Presidents, Mayors and other public representatives as well as prominent citizens of the respective districts will mark their presence.
Group Yoga sessions will be organized from 7am to 8am. This year, the target is to ensure participation of more than 60 lakh people in the International Yoga Day celebration across the state.
The objective of the International Yoga Day celebration is to create mass awareness about benefits of yoga in prevention and cure of physical and psychological ailments.
Officials and employees of all the departments, police personnel, prisoners, NCC-NSS cadets, scouts and guides along with students of government and private universities, colleges, schools and ashrams and common people will participate in the programmes.
Chief Secretary Sunil Kumar Kujur has given instructions to all the district collectors to ensure implementation of the strategic action plan for organizing group yoga sessions in the respective districts.
