A 29-year-old doctor was found dead in her flat at Sector 43 under mysterious circumstances on Wednesday.

It is being suspected that the victim died due to drug overdose. No suicide note was found from her possession. The police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against the husband and in-laws of the victim on the basis of the complaint filed by her father.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Dr Sonam Motis. She was originally a resident of Kota, Rajasthan and was living separately from her husband in a rented flat in sector 43 from October 2019.

The victim was working in Gurugram's Fortis hospital until a month ago, while her husband Dr Shikhar Mor working at the AIIMS trauma centre Delhi. Earlier, she was also posted as Senior Resident Doctor at AIIMS.

The deceased's father stated in his police complaint that the couple got married in May 2018. Shortly after the wedding, it was found that Dr Shikhar is a drug addict and also forced Sonam to take drugs along with him.

"We came to know about this when Sonam was admitted for treatment at AIIMS Hospital in April 2019," the victim's father Onkar Lal Motis told the police.

He further said that on several occasions her in-laws and husband used to beat his daughter brutally over petty issues.

"Sonam's leg was also fractured in an accident since then her husband other family members boycotted her and neither did they cooperate financially. In September 2019 Shikhar left the house and started living in the AIIMS hostel," the deceased father told the police.

The victim didn't receive the phone calls from her family members since November 18 and her flat's main door was also locked.

"On Wednesday Soon after receiving information, the police reached the spot and opened the door and found the victim's body lying on the floor. The investigation team recovered medicines which were spread on the bed," Gurugram police spokesperson Subhash Boken said.

"The body has been handed over to the deceased family after an autopsy. A case of abetment to suicide against the husband and her In-laws has been registered at the Sushant Lok police station. Further probe into the matter is underway," he added.
