An impressive Shobha Yatra of Dhori Mata was taken out here on Saturday evening, in which a large number of devotees of the mata drawn from different parts of the country including Dharmaprant of Hazaribagh Anand Jojo, Palipurohit father Michael Lakra ,father Pradeep Toppo, father Binay Kiddo,father Mathew father Polush and others participated.
The yatra started from St Anthony Church, Jarandih and after passing through Kathara chowk and other areas it culminated at Dhori mata thrithalaya near Jarandih.
Scores of youth and devotees of Mata, who led the shobha yatra performed a special feat by piercing a long thread across their both cheeks which was pulled by two persons from two opposite sides. They made every one surprised by this daring feat and a large number of people enroute gathered to witness this special event.
After the culmination of yatra at the thrithalaya of Dhori Mata near Jarandih chowk a navino -archana was performed by the devotees in a traditional way which was followed by serving of flowers to devotees.
It may be recalled that to keep the tradition alive the devotees of Dhori mata every year take out the Shobha yatra in Jarandih in a unique way. During the procession, on Saturday evening the well-bedecked palanquin carrying the wooden image of Dhori Mata captivated the attention of one and all.
As per information provided by a committee member Wilson Francis, a Dhori mata replica of Mother Mary, the 18-inch image resembling the Goddess was found on June 12,1956 by a local coal cutter Rupa Satnami. The image was identified as a replica of Mother Mary by late father Berbrakan who later installed the image in a church in 1957.In due course, local people begun to worship the statue as Dhori Mata.While all security arrangements have been made for the 2-days Dhori mata festival at Jarandih thrithalaya, atop the Bermo coal city here which started on Saturday.SDPO Bermo Anjani Anjan and Inspector cum Officer in-Charge Umesh Kumar Thakur jointly said that dozen CCTVs and drown cameras being used to monitor the movements of crowds, and all steps were taken to regulate crowds, added both police officials.
