The State Government has been informed by the Centre that the State Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM), Balangir has been allowed to run a Degree Course in Hotel Management from the academic year of 2019-20. The National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) has approved a proposal of the State’s Department of Tourism for running a three-year BSc Degree Course in Hospitality and Hotel Administration (HHA) with an intake of 60 students.
The SIHM, set up with joint assistance from the Central and State Governments in 2004, is presently running Diploma Courses for Hospitality and Hotel Administration. Meanwhile, the institute has already created infrastructure for running the new degree course.
