Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat congratulated Narendra Modi for taking the oath of office and secrecy as the Prime Minister for the second time. He also extended his good wishes to those inducted in the union cabinet. Rawat was also among those who had gone to attend the PM’s swearing-in ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan in the national Capital on Thursday evening. The CM also thanked Modi for according representation to Uttarakhand in the Union cabinet and also congratulated Haridwar MP Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on being inducted in the union cabinet.
Rawat said that this occasion marked the victory of the affection and trust of the people of India. He expressed hope that the Union Government formed under PM Modi would fulfill the commitment of building a new India. “The targets for new India would be achieved by 2022 to build a new nation where cleanliness, clean drinking water for all, pucca homes for all along with health and security for all are assured,” said Rawat.
The chief minister further said that in the Lok Sabha elections, the people had voted for the agenda of development set by Modi. Rawat said, “The steps taken for the welfare of farmers, women, labourers and youth elicited the support of the public. The people outrightly rejected those who play politics on religion and caste. Those who had been duping the poor for decades were wiped off in the elections,” he added.
Rawat further thanked Modi for giving representation to Uttarakhand in his cabinet. He also congratulated Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on being accorded a position in the union cabinet. Rawat said, “Prime minister Narendra Modi has had special affection for the state of Uttarakhand. A great devotee of lord Kedarnath, PM Modi has undertaken all possible efforts for facilitating the all-round development of Uttarakhand. In the past too, a representative of Uttarakhand had been accorded a place in the union cabinet. According representation to Uttarakhand in this cabinet too makes the importance of Uttarakhand for the Centre quite clear. Various attempts have been made from the Centre for enhancing culture, spiritualism, tourism and infrastructure in the state. Road, rail, ropeway and air connectivity are being developed at a brisk pace. We are fully confident that PM Modi will repay the people of Uttarakhand through development for the five lotuses (Lok Sabha seats) the people of Uttarakhand gave,”said Rawat.
