About 30,000 Biju Yuva Vahini (BYV) volunteers from five districts, Ganjam, Gajapati, Boudh, Nayagarh and Kandhamal, gathered at a youth convention addressed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here on Sunday.
BYV Chairman Arup Mohan Patnaik chaired the meeting. The Chief Minister felicitated Ramesh Chandra Kanhar for undertaking an awareness campaign, “Nisha ku Na”, against liquor consumption and Dassratha Behera for undertaking a tree plantation drive.
The CM gave away land right certificates to many slum dwellers under the Jaga Mission.
Patnaik laid inaugurated projects worth 57 crore and laid foundation-stone for projects worth Rs 177 crore. The projects, which were unveiled, include three 300-bed college hostels, three 600-bed Anwesha Hostels, a spice processing unit, an automatic driving testing track and an upgraded school.
He laid stonre for renovation of the Phulbani-Gochhapada road, eight high-level bridges, 10 upgraded high schools, a hostel for students of Minorities community, expansion of G Udaygiri pipe water supply and indoor and outdoor of the Baliguda Sub-Divisional Hospital.
Among others, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh, Phulbani MLA Duguni Kanhar, Birmaharajpur MLA Padmanav Behera, BJD district president Saroj Karna were present.
Kandhmal district Collector Dr Brunda D, SP Pratik Singh and other Government officers were present. Artists of the Prince Dance Group and Noted singer Sonu Nigam enthralled the youths by performing marvelous programmes.
