Centre urged to establish placement cell for youths trained under ‘Skill India’

Chhattisgarh Skill Development, technical    education and employment     minister Umesh Patel on Monday urged the Centre to set up a      central-level placement cell to provide employment opportunities to youths trained under Right to Skill programme.

He was speaking at a conclave of state skill development         ministers being organised by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The      conclave was held at the ‘Pravasiya Bhartiya Kendra’ in national     capital.

Union Minister for Skill Development Mahendra Nath Pandey and Union Minister of State for Skill Development Raj Kumar Singh were also present at the conclave.

During the conclave, Patel gave many suggestions for the new proposed scheme of the Centre, ‘Ekikrit Kaoshal Vikas Yojana’ (EKVY). The new scheme will be demand    driven instead of earlier PMKVY which was supply driven. The minister said that if the new scheme will be industry demand driven, there will be contradictions in the right to skill and the demand of various industries.

Stating that states will play a major role in implementation of the new scheme, the minister    suggested that states should be given the power to make     amendments in guidelines as per their requirements, as formulating a common guideline will not work for all states.
