The villagers of Jurudi/ Jalahari panchayat under Joda block of Keonjhar met the Collector Keonjhar at the grievance cell and submitted a memorandum demanding immediate repairing of the Bamebari- Bansapani road which is in a very bad state.
The plying of thousands of mining trucks and dumpers loaded with iron ore daily has damaged the road.
The district administration had engaged a contractor to repair and widen the road with the condition to complete the work in a short period of time but due to his negligence, there is not much progress on the road works putting the road users and locals in utter difficulty.
Added to this, pellet scattered over on the road from the running trucks / dumpers is the cause of regular accident in the area, the villagers told to the Collector.
The villagers alleged that the plants dispatching iron and others materials from the local mines and factories in heavy vehicles don't bother about proper packing of the vehicles for which pellets and materials scatter on the road cause accident, besides creating dust pollution. The villagers demanded a concrete road from Jurudi Hatpada to Crech hatting so that heavy vehicles can move smoothly without regular repairing in future.
Collector Ashish Thakre who was holding a public grievances meeting assured the villagers of the repairing of the damaged road on temporary arrangements and asked the contractor to complete the work immediately.
The villagers who met the Collector include Chaitanya Penthei, Radha Kanta Naik, Jayanti Penthei and Surendra Kumar Mohanty among others.
