Sunday, 03 February 2019 | PNS | Dehradun

Aditya Mehta Foundation, renowned for its work in empowering the Para-Athletes, hosted a road show for the fitness enthusiasts of the city on Saturday. The event was flagged off by the State Minister for Tourism Satpal Maharaj and Aparna Kumar, DIG, ITBP, who had recently completed her expedition to reach the South Pole. The event was a 7km bicycle ride/ 3km run in which the participants had to ride/run alongside the Indian National Para-Cycling team.

As a lead-up to the ‘Winter Para Games Training Camp’, the Aditya Mehta Foundation with support from Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board had earlier conducted multiple road shows in Dehradun to promote Para-Sports and its ultimate goal “Mission 100”.

The road show is being organised as a part of AMF’s initiative to boost Para Sports across the country, said Aditya Mehta, the founder, Aditya Mehta Foundation. “Besides, giving people a clear insight into the lives of Para-Athletes, it is also being held to throw some light on the foundation's upcoming ‘Winter Para Games Training Camp,’ he said.

The camp, which is being held at Auli from February 4 to 9, is a one of its kind initiative during which the Para-Athletes of different levels of disability would be trained at six different winter sports, including skiing and ice hockey, said Mehta and added that they would be trained to make India's first ever national team for the same.
