The third phase of elections for the DhenkanalLokSabha and Talcher Assembly seatswere held peacefully in Talcher. There were as many as 199 booths.
Due to some faults of EVM in some booths, the voters felt uneasy by standing in queue for hours. The voting time was extended for that reason and the voting ended by 10.30 pm.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and his wife cast their votes at the Deulbeda UP School. BJD MLA candidate Braja Kishore Pradhan cast His vote in at the Handidhuan UPSchool. BJP MLA candidate Kalandi Samal cast his vote at the Santhapada School and Congress nominee Suresh Chandra Behera cast his vote at the Ghantapada School.
Female and male voters were standing in long queues to vote from 7 am in front of the several booths because of the heat wave in the locality. But due to the faults of EVM at 173 booths under the Talcher Municipality, booth 71 of Kandhabereni Panchayat and booth 33 in Jarada panchayat, polls started at least one hour late.
The voters' turnout percentage in the constituency was 72.49 whereas the voting percentage was very less in Talcher Municipal area. i.e, 51.54.
