On the directions of Delhi High Court, the Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, transferred Special Commissioner of Police ( Law & Order) North Zone Sanjay Singh and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Harendra Singh.
Special CP, Law and Order in North district Sanjay Singh will now be taking charge as Special CP of Licensing and Transport. The Additional DCP, North district Harendra Singh has been transferred as DCP, Railways and Dinesh Kumar Gupta, the DCP Railways will be taking charge as Additional DCP North.
Following the clashes between Delhi Police and lawyers at Delhi's Tis Hazari Court on November 2 (Saturday), the Delhi High Court took suo motu (on its own) cognisance of media reports of the incident on November 3 and said Justice (retd) S P Garg, a former judge of the court, would hold a judicial inquiry into the matter.
It directed the Delhi Police Commissioner to transfer Special Commissioner Sanjay Singh and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Harinder Singh during the pendency of the inquiry and made it clear that no coercive action would be taken against any lawyer.
