Amid growing clamour of opposition parties for re-inviting the tender for operating the 108 emergency ambulance service in the state, a review of one month’s activities of the new operating company CAMP was done at health directorate on Thursday. A report by the CAMP management was handed over to the officials of the health department on the occasion. In the report, the management claimed that 131 new ambulances are operational day and night in the state while 13 ambulances are active only during day time. The new company has so far hired 298 drivers and 320 EMTs in the ambulance service and has taken new measures like sending the mobile number of the ambulance driver on sms to make the service more effective. The company has also provided petro cards to the ambulance drivers to overcome the problem of fuel in some mountainous districts.
The director medical health, Dr Amita Upreti said that the new company has taken effective and appreciable measures to solve problems such as late arrival of ambulances and complaints of their remaining off road. The CAMP officials said that a quality control team has been setup which is taking regular feedback from the people. The nodal officer of health department, J C Pandey said that the monitoring of the ambulances is being done from GPS. He said that in last 29 days, the service has provided help to 6597 persons out of which 2312 cases are related with pregnancy.
The contract of GVK- EMRI Company to operate 108 emergency ambulance service ended on April 30 after the new company, CAMP took over the operation of ambulance service after it quoted lowest rates in the tender.
