Principal Secretary Home SN Mishra has directed that the road construction agency should initiate the repair of roads, bridges and culverts damaged by the heavy rains in the State.
From the safety point of view, the bridges and culverts should also be checked thoroughly to verify damage.
Necessary repair works should be carried out immediately in case of damage or cracks in bridges. Mishra gave these directives at a meeting of the State Road Safety Implementation Committee held at Mantralaya on Wednesday. Mishra said that entire list consisting of license numbers should be provided to the Transport Department to take action to suspend driving licences if traffic rules are violated.
This action should be taken throughout the State. It was informed that about 5726 driving licenses have been suspended so far this year.
In the first 6 months, 306 fitness certificates have been suspended and action has been taken against 408 over loading vehicles. Mishra said that Collectors, Superintendents of Police, District Transport Officers and Officers of the Public Works Department must conduct site inspection, in case of two or more accidents at the same place.
It was informed that a school bus policy has also been formulated for the safety of school children. The Principal Secretary directed that special efforts should be made in districts with 20 to 25 percent accidents to prevent accidents.
Mishra asked to ensure presence of Nodal Officers in Lead Agencies.
It was informed that trauma centers at 44 places have been made in the State.
The District Hospitals are also being used as trauma centers. The Principal Secretary instructed to make ambulances integrated/centralized in two phases. The Special Director General of Police Mahan Bharat Sagar and Transport Commissioner Shailendra Shrivastava were presented at the meeting.
