‘Pvt edu institutes must admit 25% poor students’

School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said here on Tuesday that action would be taken against private educational institutions if they don’t poor students in 25 per cent of seats in their respective institutions as per the Right to Education Act.

“Private educational institutions are bound to follow RTE guidelines. They have to take poor students for 25 per cent of seats. Otherwise, strong action will be taken against them,” said the Minister. He said plans are now afoot for establishment of education hubs in the State.  

The Minister paid a surprise visit to the Hill Patna Girls Project Upper Primary School. SMC president Saroj Kumar Samantray and member Niranjan Swain were present. DEO Sanatan Panda and BEO Pravati Kumari Patro expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the school.

Later the Minister was felicitated by the Rajya Gharoi Vidyalaya Sikshak ‘O’ Katrupakshya Mahasanga, Odisha.
