Wayside public amenity centres opened

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday inaugurated 34 wayside amenity centres across the State through a videoconference at the State Secretariat here.

The centres are located at Jatamundei Chhak in Cuttack, Duburi-Kalinganagar in Jajpur, Odagaon in Nayagarh, Dhama in Sambalpur and Kapilash in Dhenkanal.

Constructed at Rs 1.10 crore each, the amenity centres along National Highways,

State Highways and other major roads would have basic facilities like food, drinking water, rest room, toilet and parking for travellers.

Besides, facilities like trauma care and vehicle repair units would be added to the fold in coming days.

Sources said a total of 50 such centres would be constructed at several places across the State in the next phase.

The Works Department has been assigned the task of maintenance of the centres.
