Union government in collaboration with UP government

Union Electronics and Information Technology minister Ravi Shankar Prasad declared that the Union government in collaboration with UP government will develop Noida and Greater Noida regions on the lines of Singapore and signed MoUs worth Rs 21000 crore.

“Big electronic companies have come to Noida and Greater Noida and 54 big players have already started their operations from there. The day is not far when this part will be known as the Singapore of UP,” said Prasad while addressing a plenary session on ‘IT & ITeS in UP : Serving the World’ on the second day of the Investors Summit in lucknow on Thursday.

As many as 22 MoUs worth Rs. 21000 crore were signed. 

Prasad also launched ‘’e - Sathi Mobile App. The app, developed by UP unit of NIC, will provide about 20 services. 

It is a matter of pride that exports worth Rs. 17,000 crore goes from Noida region, he added.

Prasad said that two major players - Samsung and Oppo, have already invested Rs 6774 crore in the area and a company from Taiwan named Tegna is expected to invest over Rs 7000 crore in the next five years. “This region will be developed as an Electronic Cluster,” he said.

“What we have achieved is not possible without the help of the state government. The credit for this achievement also goes to the Chief Minister because he was able to restore the confidence of investors by promoting UP as the most happening state,” the Union minister said.

Prasad said that India has a huge potential in IT sector. 

“Digital transformation has revolutionised manufacturing, service and empowering sectors. The system of DBT is the clear example of providing a transparent service. Aadhar has added a new meaning to the service sector as it has weeded out middle men and corruption,” the minister said.

“We are moving ahead. We have now connected hospitals with e-service. There are 21 e-hospitals in Uttar Pradesh which can provide best medical facilities to the poor,” Prasad said. 

Executive Vice-President of HCl Technologies, Sanjay Gupta said that investors, especially when moving from a metropolitan to a Tier 2 city, want good infrastructure, secure social and economic environment and ease of doing business.

“We started operations at our lucknow campus 15 months back and we are encouraged by the achievements . Today, we are successfully managing 60 global customers from lucknow and provided jobs to more than 2000 professionals from the state,” Gupta said.
