Bokaro Steel City will soon be on the aviation map of India.
Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Steel Authority of India ltd (SAIl) have signed a MoU for enhancement of regional air connectivity under RCS-UDAN at the SAIl owned airports of Bokaro, Burnpur and Rourkela.
Besides Bokaro in Jharkhand, Burnpur in West Bengal and Rourkela in Odisha will soon prominently feature on the country’s aviation map. The MoU was signed on Monday by AAI member (operations) I N Murthy and SAIl director (personnel) Atul Srivastava in the presence of Usha Padhi, Joint Secretary Ministry of Civil Aviation.
According to the MoU, AAI as an implementation agency under RCS-UDAN would be executing the required works before the commencement of RCS flights at all these three airports. Eventually, AAI will operate and manage Airport Operations for Bokaro, Burnpur and Rourkela Airport, on behalf of SAIl for three years.
“The cost of terminal and airside maintenance as well as operations will be borne by SAIl directly except ANS operations. As a part of this partnership, AAI will provide all the necessary technical guidance and support,” he added.
