After getting approval from the Haryana Government and national Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) board for the construction of Rapid Rail connectivity from Delhi-Gurugram-Shahjahanpur-Neemrana-Behror Urban Complex (SNB) corridor under the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), the authorities have floated tenders for pre-construction work on the Phase-1 corridor.
The two tenders that were issued by the (NCRTC) include, ‘Pile Loading Test’ and ‘Geo-Technical Survey’ for around 75km length of the corridor in Haryana.
“The NCRTC board recently approved the DPR (Detailed Project Report) of Delhi-Gurugram-SNB RRTS corridor. Once implemented, it will encourage people to leave their personal vehicles behind for a world class public transport system like RRTS,’ said Sudhir Kumar Sharma, Chief Public Relation Officer at NCRTC.
As per the official and the Detail Project Plan, the Delhi- Gurugram - SNB Corridor will be constructed in three phases which will be extended up to Alwar in Rajasthan. The SNB station will also be act as a major interchanges which will provide an interchange to three lines. The first phase is from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to SNB which wil cover a length of 106 km stretch with covering Bawal (Haryana), Gurugram,
Manesar, Panchgaon, Rewari and other areas. The Last station SNB will be then extended to Sotanala, with Shahjahanpur, Neemrana and Behror in between and the third phase is from SNB to Alwar.
“The SNB station will be one of the major interchanges from where people cn change the trains and go three places including Rajasthan and Haryana. It will also help a lot of farmers, students and workers who travel to and from Delhi and Haryana as this line will pass through the industrialised areas of Haryana,” added Sharma. The 106 km Delhi-Gurugram-SNB corridor will be both elevated and underground. The Rapid Rail will run on the elevated stations with covering about 71 km which includes 11 stations and the remaining 35 km will be underground with 5 stations that will fall mostly in Gurugram and Delhi.
“This corridor will converge with other RRTS corridors in Sarai Kale Khan and will be interoperable, facilitating commuters’ movement from one corridor to another without the hassle of changing trains. Similarly, RRTS will be seamlessly integrated with other modes of transport like Railway Stations, Metro stations, ISBTs and Airport in National Capital Region,” said the CPRO.
Officials at NCRTC further said that the estimated time of completion of this corridor excluding the excluding 1 year of pre-construction activities is 2024. Currently, the NCRTC is working on the first line of RRTS i.e. Delhi-Ghaziabad- Meerut line. The pre-construction work such as Geo-Technical Survey, Utility Diversion works and Road widening work is under progress. This RRTS line is 82 km in length and has a total 16 RRTS stations.
