A well-known builder of the city, who allegedly had faced a bullet attack about ten days back, was arrested by police on Saturday, along with four other associates, allegedly for conspiring a firing on himself in a bid to trap one of his business rivals.

Police after forwarding the businessman in his bullet attack incident have decided to open another such case, which occurred during 2013 against the same businessman.

Sources said on December 11, 2018, one Anmol Singh, a builder and a known businessman of the city, had lodged a complaint in Brahamani Tarang police station, alleging that while coming towards Rourkela on SH 10, two miscreants had suddenly opened fire at him and his men, on the outskirts of Rourkela city.

The police had registered a case under Section 307 and Arms Act and had stated investigation in to the matter.

During investigation, it came to light that Anmol had business rivalry over financial issues with another businessman of Rourkela city, police said.

Anmol reportedly had hired two persons, identified as Sapan, alias Sajan Tiwari, and Dilu, alias Dilsad Khan and paid Rs 70,000 cash to attack his rival businessman, but they were not successful in their attempt, police added.

Sources said after failing in their attempt, Anmol along with Sajan and Dilsad had made a conspiracy to attack on their own vehicle so that the businessman in rivalry with Anmol would come under the trap of police.

Accordingly, Sajan and Dilshad had hired two persons, identified as Shibu Bisoi and Sajan Mustaqu Alam for executing the second plan.

Accordingly, when Anmol and his associates were returning on SH 10, these two persons had opened firing at the vehicle, particularly after Anmol and his men getting down from the vehicle.

The bullet marks on the vehicle were produced in the police station, as the evidence of firing, sources added.

Police also had recovered two nine mm bore pistols, four rounds of live ammunitions, cash worth Rs 70,000, one Hundai Creta vehicle, one Maruti Baleno, one TVS Apachi motorcycle and also one white coloured Toyata Innova (with bullet marks on body) from the arrested persons.
