In a new development in the Dhenkanal shelter home sexual harassment case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) will probe the financial transactions and sources of foreign funding of NGO Good News India, which runs the children home in Dhenkanal and several other parts of the State.
A senior ED official on Saturday said a detailed probe would be carried out to ascertain the source from where 22 shelter homes of the Good News India used to receive funds. Basically, the sources of foreign funding would be under scanner.
Official sources said the Central investigation agency has also asked the Dhenkanal police to submit an FIR copy and chargesheet of the case.
“The ED might seek remand of Good News India managing director Fayaz Rahman under the Foreign Exchange Management FEMA Act (FEMA) for questioning on the money trail of the NGO,” said a senior official.
The development came two days after National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) member Yashwant Jain alleged that the Odisha Government did not follow the guidelines on protection of children at the shelter homes stringently.
