Double-decker sleeper bus service begins

The wait for a lavish bus journey for the commuters of the state capital got finally over on Sunday as a fully double-decker sleeper bus service launched in Ranchi. The bus would ply between the capital Ranchi and Patna.

Housing and Urban Development Minister CP Singh launched the service. At present the bus service started from Ranchi to Patna and Patna to Ranchi under the banner of Shakti Travels. At the starting level only two buses have been registered under Sleeper Bus Registration Manuel at Ranchi District Transport office.

Addressing the gathering at the occasion Singh said, “It is first of its kind bus service in Jharkhand. It will prove as milestone for the state. There are more applications for the double-decker sleepers buses pending the government will provide permit them as early as possible.”  Informing about the bur Shakti Travels Director, Paritosh Singh said, “It is completely air-conditioned bus. As many as 30 passengers can travel at one time by the bus, 15 passengers on upper berth and 15 on lower berths. On the ride there is single berth and on the right side there is double berth.”

He further said, “The highly luxury buses manufacturing cost is Rs.1.40 crore. Indian automobile company Eicher has prepared the engine which is manufactured by Germany based automobile giant Volvo. The body of the buses prepared by Government of India recognized institute from Karnataka.”

Singh said, “One-way fare for each passenger travelling between Ranchi and Patna is Rs. 700 for upper birth and Rs.750 for lower birth. The facilities provided for passengers include complementary water and blankets. Apart from it there is twenty television sets run by remote control system. The bus is comprised of two emergency gates which situated at back side and right hand side of the bus. Fire safety facility has also been provided. To put luggage a big box has been made under the seats.”
