In a suspected case of suicide, the body of a 56-year old police officer was found at Atal Dwar, near the SADA office. The deceased, Shivdutt Mishra was posted in Ambha as SI of police.

An FRV van and the Purani Chawani police found the body on the divider after they were alerted by the locals that a body in police uniform was lying near the Atal Dwar. After registering an FIR the body was sent to the hospital for postmortem.

It appears that the SI committed suicide as police found a bottle of cellphos, a highly poisonous substance near the body. Some parts of the body had turned blue too, which could be the result of the poison.

A diary too was recovered from the trouser pockets of the deceased.

It is learnt from sources that the last two pages of the diary contained a suicide note but the police are yet to confirm this. According to reports the suicide note said that he was committing suicide due to personal reasons and that no one was responsible for his death.

However, the police are yet to confirm anything.

According to sources in the police department murder too could not be ruled out and they are checking all the CCTV footages from the area and nearby places.

The deceased, a resident of Ghosipura was a sportsman and had got appointment as constable in 1982 in the sports quota.

Speaking to the media persons, Praveen, the deceased’s only son said that he had absolutely no idea why his father would want to commit suicide. He added that he had left his father near the SADA office in the morning in his bike and at that time his father was in high spirits.

Navnit Bhasin, the SP of Gwalior said that police are looking into all angles including murder. He also said that he was unaware of any suicide note.
