An evening of ghazals to remember Dushyant

The legendary poet Dushyant Kumar was remembered through his ghazals. A calm and composed evening of ghazals was organised at Ravindra Bhavan here n Tuesday.

The event was organised by Directorate of Culture to give a tribute to Dushyant Kumar. The Saaya Band presented the poetries of Dushyant Kumar in rock style music. lead singer and composer of the band Vikas Sirmoliya told, “We presented the ghazals of Dushyant Kumar in a different way.” On asking if the songs are being remixed, he said, “The ghazals are not remixed but, it is more likely presented in a rock music style.”

The band started off with ghazal ‘Kahan Toh Tay Tha Chiragaa’. The concert was followed with Halat-e-Jism Surat-e-Jung, Baadh Ki Sambhavnaien Saamne Hain, Yeh Sara Jism Jhukkar and more. The audience were mesmerized with the concert. The main motive of convening such concert was to create love and affection for ghazals among the youngsters. Many youngsters do not listen to ghazals and prefer rock music, this was an attempt to bring the ghazal period back with new phase and feel, Vikas added. While expressing his views on Dushyant Kumar’s poetry, Vikas said, “Dushyant Kumar was a tremendously wonderful writer and poet. His work is appreciated all over and is a well noted personality of our country.” He further said that Dhushyant Kumar’s poetry is aggressive and is connected with the country’s scenario. “We have earlier staged this concert in Bhopal and would take this new attempt to reach more heights in future,” Vikas said contentedly.
