To commemorate the birth anniversary of former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, DPS Bokaro today started a Science Summit ‘OJAS 2018-19’ on its school premises at sector 4 in Bokaro.
With the objective to nurture and promote scientific temperament among students, the school has organised the Science Summit, which would conclude on October 12, informed Mritunjay Sharma, PRO of the school.
Today’s competition was based on the projects made by the students on ‘Child Rights’ with the central theme ‘Kilkari’, ‘Kal Kal Jivan- Save Rivers’. Students prepared models for Science Projects displaying the wonders of science in an innovative way, he said.
Ashok Kumar (Department of History, Bokaro Mahila College), Ashok Kumar Singh (Department of English, City College, Bokaro), Dr. Sanjay Singh (Department of Psychology, Bokaro Mahila College) and A K Jha (Department of Economics, NJS College) constituted the team of jury for the evaluation of the child right projects.
Whereas, to judge the science project, the jury consisted of Usha Rani (Bokaro Mahila College), Gunjita Sinha (Department of Biology, VKM Inter College, Chas), Arvind Kumar Singh (Government Women’s Polytechnic College), Nasim Akhtar (NJS College), Nilima Mishra (Department of Physics, Bokaro Mahila College) and Dr. Thakur Ashok Anand (Principal and HOD Physics, Chas College).
The jury members and the guests for the ceremony appreciated the efforts by the students and stressed upon this fact that the real study of science and social sciences can be acquired only through their practical implications and observations in daily life and the world around.
Appreciating the efforts of the students under the guidance of the teachers which motivated them to inculcate a scientific temperament Director and Principal, DPS Bokaro, Dr. Hemlata S Mohan said, “Competitions like this not only enhance the scientific and literal skills but also open new ways of learning”.
Professor Anwar A Khan, Former Vice Chancellor, Ranchi University graced the occasion as the Chief Guest whereas Dr. Ram Singh, Principal, DPS, Ranchi was the Guest of Honour.
