Continuing its sealing drive, the building department of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation has sealed five properties in Mayapuri and Tilak Nagar for unauthoriesd construction and misusing of property on Wednesday. While, North Corporation has also sealed 60 properties in areas of Azad Market, Old Rajender Nagar and Malka Ganj.
Among those sealed by SDMC are Pind Baluchi Restaurant and Revive Hospital in Tilak Nagar and Honda car showroom in Mayapuri Phase 2.
A senior SDMC official said Revive Hospital was sealed for running commercial activity in the stilt area of the hospital. “Further, an entire building also sealed at JJ Colony Chaukhandi for illegal construction.
The SDMC official said the action was taken on direction of the SC-appointed monitoring committee “The order was issued by the committee appointed by the SC and we have acted accordingly. There is no need for sending any prior notice just before the action in that case,” said a senior official from SDMC,” he said.
The SC-appointed monitoring committee, which was revived on December 15 last year, has three members including former adviser to the Election Commission KJ Rao, chairman of Environment Pollution (Prevention & Control) Authority (EPCA) Bhure lal and Major General (retd) Som Jhingan.
