A 28-year-old man, two times National gold medallist in Taekwondo and an aspirant for Indian Idol, was arrested along with his associate by the Anti-Auto Theft Squad of the Outer district police said on Saturday.
MN Tiwari, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) said, “Suraj, alias Fighter, and Anil have been arrested. With their arrest, five cases of robbery and vehicle theft have been solved.” Police said Suraj has a diploma in computer engineering. He speaks eloquently in English. He is fond of wearing branded clothes. He is a good singer and has participated in Indian Idol.
“He is the gang leader and has been previous involved in 24 criminal cases of robbery and vehicle theft in Delhi. He was arrested in 2014 by Janak Puri police and a number of 49 mobiles were recovered from him. After that he was again arrested in June 2017 by Tilak Nagar police in robbery cases. He entices the persons who come in his contact and use them in robbery and vehicle theft. Anil is neighbour and close friend of Suraj. Suraj and Anil along with their friend Mustaq did the robbery in Ranhola area by using pistol and a pepper spray,” said a senior police official.
On October 21, an incident of robbery was reported from Ranhola where in three unidentified men robbed Deepak and his friends of their gold chain and leather purse using pepper spray and country made pistol. They were nabbed acting on a tip-off, said police.
