VBU celebrates Vinoba Bhave Jayanti

Vinoba Bhave University Hazaribagh celebrated the birth anniversary of Saint Vinoba on Monday with enthusiasm. The political science department of the university organizsed the programme at Tagore Bhawan of the university in which the officials, teachers and staffs were present in good number along with the students.

Addressing the gathering Vice Chancellor Prof. Ramesh Sharan said, “We are fortunate that great personalities of the world like Gandhi, Vinoba Bhave and Jayprakash Narayan belong to our country. Bhoodan revolution initiated by Saint Vinoba Bhave was an attempt to bring social and economic equality which got overwhelming support all over the country. Due to this revolution of Saint Vinoba, many things changed and now-a-days, we are living in a new India.”

Ex-HOD of political science department Dr. CP Sharma said, “It is unfortunate that we failed to turn the Bhoodan revolution into a massive people’s revolution. Why we failed, is a matter of research. He also said that it is due to the weaknesses of that period’s Government ,we failed to get the result for which Vinoba Bhave had started this movement.”

Prof. Sukalyan Moitra of political science department said that service of the poor was the main aim of Saint Vinoba for which he travelled acrosscountry on foot. He also gave a detailed account of the life history of Saint Vinoba.

Dr. Margret lakram, HOD political science welcomed everyone and said that the thoughts of Vinoba is still prevalent and we all should follow him. Dr. Pramod Kumar anchored the programme while Dr. Vinod Ekka presented vote of thanks. The programme started with garlanding on the statue of Saint Vinoba standing in the midst of the campus. On this occasion, PVC Dr. Kunul Kandir, registrar Dr. BP Rukhaiyar, Dr. BP Singh, Dr. Sahab Bahadur, Dr. Jaydeep Sanyal, Dr. Ajay Bahadur Singh, Dr. Reeta, Dr. Usha Singh and others were present.
