From now on Tehsildars would be provided vehicles to perform their official duties in Himachal Pradesh.
Presiding over the annual State level convention of HP Revenue officers association, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Monday announced vehicles for Tehsildars.
“Only selected Tehsildars who were performing higher responsibilities would be upgraded to the post of District Revenue Officers and that too in a phased manner,” he added.
Virbhadra Singh said that demarcations and partitions etc need to be speeded up, adding that despite appointments of revenue officers in tehsils and Sub tehsils, it takes a long time to complete demarcations. He said that this had to be looked upon. ‘Where there is a will there is a way’, said the Chief Minister, adding that the process of demarcations and partitions should be speeded up particularly in rural areas to provide the much needed relief to the rural people.
The Association also presented a cheque of Rs. 2.01 lakh to the Chief Minister towards the CM Relief Fund. The Chief Minister also released the Calendar of the Association.
Revenue and law Minister, Kaul Singh Thakur who also addressed the officers and said that there was lot of expansion in revenue sector as lots sub tehsil and tehsil were opened during the regime of the present government. ‘Stagnation leads to inefficiency and lack of zeal and we want efficient officers like you all present in the convention here today,” he said, adding new Kannungo circles were created in the State. Besides, 2300 youth were appointed as multipurpose workers in the revenue department. He said that government decided that with opening of new tehsils and sub tehsils the posts would automatically be filled as per announcements.
The Minister said that the honorarium of sub registrars was enhanced from Rs. 200 to Rs. 2000. The tehsildar have multifarious role to play in the field and supporting the demands of the vehicles to the Tehsildars.
