On Monday noon, an ugly situation took place when a sitting syndicate member of Vinoba Bhave University started beating the admission in-charge of St Columba’s college Hazaribagh, who is also a teacher. Other teachers and students interfered into it and protected the teacher. After this incident the teachers and staffs of the college held a meeting with the Pro vice-chancellor and other officers of VBU.

According to some witnesses, at about 1.30 at noon syndicate member Amardeep Yadav, who is also the State president of BJP’s OBC cell, entered into the Chemistry department of the college.  Vinay Kumar Singh, who is the admission in-charge, is also a teacher. After some hot discussion, suddenly Yadav started beating Singh. By the time the teachers and students present there took interfered into the feud Singh had started bleeding.

After this incident, an emergency meeting of staff association of St Columba’s college was called wherein everyone including principal SK Toppo condemned the incident and decided to lodge FIR against the syndicate member and to inform about the whole incident to the university administration with a prayer to take action. The staff association has also decided to sit on Dharna on Tuesday in front of college gate.

later Principal, teacher and staffs of St Columba’s college met with SP Anoop Birthare and DC Ravishankar  ter.  They have also submitted a written complaint to both district and police official. Meanwhile, an FIR against Amardeep Yadav and a dozen others has been lodged by the teachers association in Bara Bazar outpost.

On the other hand, syndicate member Amardeep Yadav said that he asking the college principal and admission in-charge, since last one month, to admit a candidate whose name was in the selection list but admission was denied because he had not submitted caste certificate at time.

“last month when he procured caste certificate I met the principal and requested him to take the admission. The principal told me to meet the admission in-charge who will first give the number of vacant seats in OBC quota, then I can do anything. Since last one month, I have been regularly asking the admission in-charge to inform me on the number of vacant seats but he always talked about ongoing holidays,” he said.

“Today when the college reopened I again met him but e simply refused to give anything in writing and said that admission has been closed. He also said that now my work is over and I am not entitled to give you any written status of the admission process.,” he added. However, Amardepp denied the allegation of manhandling with the teacher.
