Even as TMC lok Sabha leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay is undergoing marathon grilling at the CBI office here in connection with the Rose Valley chit fund scam, his wife Naina Bandyopadhyay on Friday again visited the Central investigating office for the second consecutive days.
Sudip Bandyopadhyay is on a six-day CBI remand.
Though the reason for the visit was not ascertained, sources said the CBI is grilling Naina, who is also a TMC MlA, for her alleged complicity with the tainted money collection company.
Meanwhile, the Special CBI Court here sent the other arrested TMC MP Tapas Paul to judicial custody on Friday. The court’s directive came after the completion of his second phase three-day CBI remand. He will be in judicial custody till January 19.
Paul was grilled by CBI officials in connection with the Rose Valley chit fund scam in two phases. Both Paul and Bandyopadhayay were arrested on the charge of using their influences to benefit the Rose Valley group, which is mired in the `17,000-crore scam that has hit thousands of small investors in West Bengal and Odisha.
Meanwhile, the CBI on Friday too grilled one BB Mishra in connection with the Seashore chit fund scam. “I do not have any links with Seashore. I had only got an award from the company,” said Mishra, who is stated to be president of the Mumbai Odia Samaj. Sources said the CBI quizzed Mishra regarding his role as a middleman between politicians, bureaucrats and the Seashore.
