To educate the public about corruption, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has directed its field officers to aware the people about the concerted efforts being made by the Bureau to weed out corruption from public offices during the ‘Vigilance Awareness Week’ being observed from October 29 to November 3 in the State.
A special awareness campaign, launched in the State, would also inspire the officers to implement preventive measures effectively so that transparency and accountability could be maintained during the investigations, said the state ADGP-cum-Chief Director Vigilance Bureau BK Uppal.
Uppal added that basic motto of this awareness week was to create a corruption-free society under the theme of ‘my vision-corruption free India’ as conceived by the Central Vigilance Commission.
Vigilance chief further informed that SSPs of various vigilance ranges have also organised functions in rural and urban areas to sensitise the students and public including various departments, panchayats, NGOs etc by involving their participation in the awareness campaign against corruption and malpractices.
On the commencement of vigilance awareness week, VB Director Nageswara Rao administered integrity pledge to all officers and employees of the Bureau on Monday.
He asked the subordinate staff to work efficiently and clear the backlog of pending vigilance cases.
