The Neelachal Tennis Academy is going to introduce a new model in Odisha with a prospect for the future of budding tennis talents by organising an Odisha Tennis Premier league (OTPl), the biggest tennis tournament of the State.
The OTPl would be held at the Kalinga Stadium Tennis Complex here from November 19 to 23, said tournament director Dilip Mohanty at a Press meet here on Monday. The premier league would change the scenario of tennis in the State and bring lots of development for the upcoming talented players in Odisha, he added.
A total of 32 players from the state would participate in the league franchised by eight teams named Angul Acers, Bhadrak Victors, Cuttack Conquerors, Khordha Warriors, Kendrapada Contenders, Puri Wavers, Sambalpur Shooters, Sundergarh Veerans.
The players would get fixed amounts as category wise such as category A Rs 50, 000, category B Rs 40, 000, category C Rs 30, 000 and category D Rs 20, 000.
Earlier, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had released the logo and T-shirt for the OTPl.
