The authorities of the North Orissa University (NOU) here have urged the Government to grant permission and sanction for opening of five new departments, Wild life Research, Yoga & Naturopathy, Mathematics, Remote Sensing & Geographical Information System and Mining & School of Management.
If these five departments are added to the existing eleven, the university, in a way, would be considered as a full-fledged one, said NOU Vice-chancellor Dr Prafulla Chandra Mishra at a Press conference here on Sunday. The Press meet, which was also attended by NOU Registrar Sadanand Nayak, was organised on the eve of the university’s 10th Convocation to be held on Monday.
The university is going to confer honourary Dlit on four eminent personalities during the convocation. They are Chandrabhanu Satpathy, an author of several books, nonagenarian Rajayogini Dadi Hridayamohini, famous Prajapita Brahmakumari Guru, former Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy, a great researcher on Jayadev and Buddha, and Pundit Antaryami Mishra, who played a significant role in making Odia a classical language.
