Union Minister for Railways Piyush Goyal said on Monday that the Ministry was at utmost comfort with any amount required to ensure safety and security of passengers.
During a review meeting of rail projects in Jharkhand with bosses of South-Eastern and East-Central zones of Indian Railways on Monday, Goyal said that there was no fund crunch for safety and security related projects and Indian Railways wouldn’t compromise at any cost with safe and secure travel of passengers.
Goyal, who is also heading Union Ministry of Coal, was in the city to take part in inaugural session of maiden Mining Show in the Jharkhand, sat with South-Eastern Zonal Head SN Agrawal, East-Central Zonal Head Rajeev Agrawal, officials of Coal India limited and other officials of State government to discuss development and hurdles in rail projects in the State.
As the Rail Minister enquired about safety and security measures in South-Eastern Zone under which Ranchi Division falls in, Agrawal presented the progress work in connection with passenger amenities and safety and security at length before Goyal. The Minister praised the efforts being made by both the divisions and assured of adequate fund availability for the purpose.
The Rail Minister on Monday announced investment of `3,850 crores during current financial year (2017-18) in Jharkhand. He said during inaugural session of Jharkhand Mining Show that the State had received huge amount of investment during last three years for development of rail infrastructure and development of basic passenger amenities in the State. Notably, Ranchi Railway Station has been selected among railway stations to be developed as world class railway station under Public Private Mode in first phase.
