Haryana Government has geared up for a grand closing ceremony of the year-long golden jubilee celebrations of the State at Mahabir Stadium in Hisar on Tuesday.
The stadium witnessed hectic activity on Monday as workers raced against time to complete the infrastructural works and hundreds of participants presented a full dress rehearsal of various events planned for the day. Chief Minister Manohar lal himself reviewed the arrangements in the evening.
The stadium is expected to be packed to capacity for the mega event. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, the chief guest at the closing ceremony, accompanied by Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki and the Chief Minister, will join the people at the function which include dance performances, march by brass bands, a drill by women guards of the Border Security Force (BSF), bike stunts, a parade by traditional Haryanvi musicians, and a dance medley by college and university students.
The main attraction of the programme would be a performance by Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam, a Haryana native, who will present a bouquet of his choicest songs. Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda, another Haryana native, who was at the venue on Monday, will be the host during the programme.
Since the day will coincide with National Ekta Diwas, which commemorates the birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, an ekta pledge will be taken by the gathering at the event.
Among other items on the agenda are dance performances on the theme “Vande Mataram” and “Mera Haryana”, a film on the year-long golden jubilee celebrations, armed police and police march past and a talk by media baron Subhash Chandra.
“In Haryana, the year-long celebrations have witnessed a flurry of impressive grassroots level activities, touching the lives of the common man across the length and breadth of the state, in every conceivable field, including art and culture, music, dance, literature, entertainment, agriculture, science, industry, sports, governance, etc,” said an official spokesman of Haryana Government.
He said that beginning with a power-packed opening ceremony at Gurugram on November 1, 2016, which was graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the next 12 months witnessed events, the scale and size of which were never witnessed before in the state. Enthusiastic participation by the masses marked all the events, said he.
These events included a national youth festival, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kabbadi Championship, Bharat Kesari Dangal, Saang Utsav, Raagni Utsav, Natya Kala Utsav, Kahaniyon Ka Bal Rangmanch, Mushairas, Haryana Sahitya Sangam, Haryana MSME Sammelan, Haryana Parvasi Divas among others, added he.
Haryana state was formed on 1 November 1966. The state was carved out of the former state of East Punjab on linguistic basis.
