From now onwards, the officials of the Haryana Police Department will no more be required to make frequent rounds of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in connection with filing replies in court cases. The ambitious “E-Vetting” system of replies to be filed in the court has been implemented in the entire Police Department with effect from April 3.
Haryana Deputy Advocate General Himmat Singh, who is also nodal officer for the E-Vetting Project on Monday, said a meeting was held with all Deputy Superintendents of Police in which User-ID and password were released to them. With this, the police personnel would upload reply online from their respective offices to the AG office which would be vetted by law officers and filed in the court.
The online system would cut down on unnecessary delays in the vetting of replies. The E-Vetting system, jointly developed by AG Office and the NIC, was recently launched by the AG Office, he said.
The new system which is cost effective and time saving, would soon be implemented in other departments. It would save about Rs 1 crore every year as over 21,000 police personnel would not have to make visits of the AG office for getting replies vetted. In the first phase, it has been implemented in the Police Department. The Civil Secretariat would be included in the second phase and other departments later on, he added.
Himmat Singh said that “E-Vetting” system had been designed to facilitate concerned officials to get their reply or affidavit filed on time without any delay through online process. The new online system would not only save time, money and manpower, but would also help in preventing daily visit of officials of the Police Department to AG Office. This system would be integrated with SMS and email alerts.
There are about 40,000 cases of the Police Department in the court.
Also, about one lakh civil cases are in the court and it is very difficult to monitor all these cases in offline mode which often results in heavy trouble.
The software has been prepared and launched on the suggestion and guidance of Advocate General, Baldev Raj Mahajan, he added.
