The Transport Minister Yashpal Arya flagged off the Haldwani-Kausani Darshan bus service in Haldwani on Sunday. A Volvo bus service from Haldwani to Delhi was also initiated on the occasion.
Addressing a ceremony organised on the occasion the minister said that the state government is committed to provide better transport facility to the people of the state. On the Kumaon Darshan bus service, Arya said that in first stage this service is being started from Haldwani and Nainital. He said that the service will help tourists to visit various religious places of Kumaon region. This service would be available on Sunday, Wednesday and Fridayfrom Haldwani. The bus would take pilgrims to Bhimtal- Kainchidham- Almora- Kausani and Garud route. The service from Naintal would ply on Bhawali- Kainchidham- Patal Bhuvneshwar- Gangolihat route.
The minister said that the service would help both Indian and foreign tourists visit religious spots of Kumaon and would help in economic development of the region. The visitors would be acquainted with the culture of the region while soaking in the natural beauty of Kumaon, he said.
After inaugurating the bus service, the Minister inspected the roadways bus stand of Haldwani. Not happy with the sanitation condition of the bus stand he directed the divisional manager Kushi Ram to maintain regular sanitation and conduct time to time inspections. Arya directed the General Manager (GM) operations, Deepak Jain that close circuit cameras should be installed in the bus stand for safety of passengers and their luggage. Taking notice of the non functional E -ticketing machine, the minister ordered immediate repair of the machine or purchase of new machines. He also asked for placing digital sinnage in the bus stand compound for the benefit of passengers. Arya said that maximum facilities should be provided to the passengers in Haldwani as the place is the entrance point of Kumaon region.
The MlA Naveen Dumka, district president of BJP Pradeep Bisht and others were present on the occasion.
