GDMC admin prepares roadmap for better facilities

Facing criticism for shoddy arrangements in the biggest hospital of the State, the administration of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) has prepared a road-map for providing better facilities to the patients. The Principal of GDMC, Dr Pradip Bharati Gupta said that four Emergency Medical Officers (EMO) for the emergency wing of the hospital would soon be recruited and renovation work in the emergency ward has been initiated. He said that a process to install a token display system in the Out Patient Department (OPD) of hospital has been initiated and here to TV screens have been put in place. The Principal added that dedicated guards to help the patients would be placed in every OPD of the hospital. The college administration would soon recruit 50 new guards for strengthening security in the campus.  The reception centre of the hospital is also being revamped and a receptionist to help the patient and their relatives would be posted round the clock. The Principal informed that ANC and PNC wards have started functioning and new pediatric ward would start functioning from next week. To improve intra and inter department communication an intercom having sixty lines would be installed soon. Dr Gupta said that Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Authority (UREDA) has been requested to install solar water heaters in the hospital. The existing lifts of the hospital are being repaired while request for installation of more lifts have been made, he informed. The GDMC is also working in the direction of making the campus more attractive as beautification of the front lawn would start soon. Similarly the pot holes on the roads are being covered and the benches are being repaired. The Principal has also asked the doctors to take more daily rounds of the wards for better patient care and cleanliness.  In move to inculcate competition in the hospital staff a best ward award would be given every month. Dr Gupta said from now on more involvement of senior doctors would be ensured for improving hospital care. The Principal would also hold regular meetings with senior matrons and sisters to improve the patient care. The GDMC would also procure a new and highly advanced Computer Assisted Tomography (CAT) machine for the department of radiology. The new machine would be ultra modern 128 machine capable of being used in CT angiography.
