Ganjam nurse conferred Florence Nightingale award

K Krishna Kumari, a Nurse working at the Kukudakhandi Community Health Centre (CHC) in Ganjam district, was conferred the prestigious Florence Nightingale Award  by President Pranab Mukherjee at a function held in New Delhi on the occasion of the International Nurses Day on Friday.

Kumari, the only one Nurse from Odisha awarded, received `50,000 along with a citation from the President. Earlier, Kumari had got many awards from the State Government for her astounding service to patients of various categories during her last 22 years of service.

Meanwhile, the day was observed by various organisations here.

The day observed by the Nursing College was graced by National Health Mission Advisor Ushakanti Mohapatra.

Similarly, the Jail Training School and the Odisha Nursing Association, MKCG Branch observed the day.
