Forest guard injured in tiger attack at Kaliasot dam

An assistant forest guard was injured after being attacked by a tiger at Mandora village near Kaliasot dam in the early hours of Friday. The tiger attacked the guard, Narayan Meena, when he was on his way to work.  The tiger caught hold of Meena's right leg with its jaws and the victim's screams alerted the locals. Seeing people gathering around, the tiger left the spot and disappeared into the forest. Meena sustained injuries in his leg and was rushed to JP hospital where his condition is reportedly stable. He said it was an adult tiger.

Senior officials have claimed that after the attack the whole area was cordoned off and search for the tiger has been started. After the attack, forest employees have been deployed at the main road from Chunabhatti to Kerwa dam for the safety of the commuters and to track the movement of the tiger.

Earlier, around four tigers have been spotted in Mendora, Kaliasot and Kerwa region and their movement has been witnessed till Bhadbhada Road.
